Healing…From the Inside Out!

(Cassie)

Those of you who have been following me for a while know that I owe thanks to two books that helped me get started on my healing journey. One is Molecules of Emotion by Candace Pert and the other is The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire by Deepak Chopra.

These books, my desire to slow the pace of my life, and ultimately launch a company for wellness, are the reasons that I live so very well with MS.

Today, I have good news to share. I received the May newsletter from the Chopra Center and read about the “Journey Into Healing Video Contest.”

I was excited to submit my 2-minute video titled, Healing From the Inside Out, not only get a chance to win the contest (of course), but also to have an opportunity to say Thank You to a man who has helped me, and so many others heal in this world.

Healing from the Inside Out

Much to my surprise (although, I was manifesting it!), I received a call the other day telling me that my video was in the TOP 5 Finalists. WOW!

I’d love to share my video with you. It’s posted with the other top 5 videos on the Chopra YouTube channel. Please take a look at all the videos submitted. They are very powerful! Then, if you wish, you can vote for the video that resonates most with you by clicking the LIKE button. Click HERE to view the videos.

I am blessed with good health and never take it for granted. I’m also blessed to be a part of Wisdom Woman.

Be Well~!

I am…a positive thought for the day!

(Cassie)

My dear friend, Joy Hemp has a beautiful business called A Positive Thought.

Those who know Joy know that she is indeed positive, and that there is no mistake that she is called JOY.

Recently, Joy gifted me with a deck of her inspirational cards and I’ve used them every day since.

This little deck is called the “I AM” cards. They sit on my alter in a prayer bowl that was also given to me as a gift from my wonderful Deb M.

I am cards

Each morning after I meditate, I choose one I am card from the bowl, read and contemplate it and then leave it sit face up to remind me of the essence of it’s message each time I pass by throughout the day.

Today my card reminded me that I AM strong. I can do what I set my mind to and succeed!

I LOVE this little ritual. It’s become a part of what I look forward to each morning.

Joy also produces a deck of “LETTING GO” cards which help to release the negative patterns that can at times permeate our thoughts.

PLEASE VISIT JOY’S SITE AND ADD A POSITIVE THOUGHT TO YOUR DAY.

I am . . . happy you’ve come to read today.

Don’t go away…MAY!

(Cassie)

It’s almost time to retire May and dust off June.

But, I don’t want May to go away. I LOVE May. I have so much FUN in May.

May is my birth month, my annual trip to Colorado (which also included a bonus trip to see my Sis!), Mom’s Day, my anniversary (24 years and counting!), baseball playoffs (my son’s junior college team, who came in 2nd in the state!), and the start of warm and beautiful weather (although we had a VERY wet May this year!)

I have great memories to share from May. So before I kiss it good-bye, please indulge me in a final trip down memory lane…

End of April/first couple days of May – Colorado. Every time I see the Grand Canyon, it steals my breath away for a second or two. We stayed at a hotel right on the rim.

C&D grand canyon

Then we went on to a cattle round up. A REAL one at a ranch in Colorado owned by two wonderful people, Cindy and Cliff.

Then…on to have fun with Jessica. Here’s me being so happy in Durango, CO with my sister. I wish I had a pic of Jessica and I together! She’s camera-shy. We went from there back to Santa Fe and I got to see her new Art Garden gallery. It’s SPECTACULAR.

May 3 – Birthday fun with my twin brother, Chris. BTW, we spend every birthday together. We take the day off and play. AND we DID NOT plan on wearing the same outfit. When he came to pick me up I opened the door and it looked like the days when Mom dressed us alike.

May 9 – Mother’s Day. The kids arranged a fun day filled with activities. One was a “hunt for the heart.” Hubby and I were dropped off at the park with only our camera’s and a note. The note asked us to find as many hearts in nature (or created by us) as we could in 15 minutes. We were then judged on our entries. I won…OF COURSE! Here’s one of my hearts.

May 17 – Anniversary Weekend. We went to a place called Cache Creek Casino, where Dennis was playing in a golf tournament. I don’t like anything about the gambling scene, but did like the spa, pool area and some of the sites on the grounds.

Like this awesome door to the golf course clubhouse . . .

And this statue in the gardens around the pool…

On the way back, we stopped at this great place called the Putah Creek Cafe in Winters, CA. They have this outdoor pizza oven/wagon. The food was fantastic!

Then, Anniversary Dinner with hubby. OK, this prime rib is almost as big as my husband. Remember at the beginning of the Flintone’s where Wilma served Fred a HUGE dinosaur steak? It looked kinda like that. We went BOWLING afterwards. Yes, I’m Polish.

I guess this is as juicy a spot as I’ll find to seguay into June.

I’ll miss you, May.

I won’t forget you anytime soon.

See you next year.

The LOVE workout . . .

(Cassie)

Many mornings of the week, I walk several miles on the college track near our house.

If I get there early enough, I get to see the “love workout.”

This couple is SO cute. They work out together each morning (and I do mean together).

the love workout1

Their regimen consists of running up and down the steps of the bleachers. On the ascension, he follows her up. On the decent, they lock arms.

When they reach the bottom, they LOCK LIPS. It’s true. They make out!

the love workout2

When they get to the top, they bend over to the  side-by-side drinking fountains and take a sip (I swear, it’s synchronized – they start the sip at the same time and end at the same time!).

They kiss again, lock arms and run down the stairs.

I felt so nosey trying to sneak these pics on my iPhone. I couldn’t get the kissing part because I didn’t want to get caught being a “Cass-arazzi.”

Some of you might be wondering by now if I have a life. I do. Honest. This is a little bit distracting and a lot entertaining, and I wanted to share it with you.

My husband and I walked the track a couple of weeks ago and I showed him the routine. He said something that only my husband could say with a straight face, “It’s obvious they’re having an affair.”

I don’t believe it for a minute. I think they’re in love. I think they’re each other’s incentive and love coach for exercise.

What do you think?

That I Would Be Good…

(Cassie)

I usually prefer silence when I’m driving in my car.

Time to think. Time to reflect. Pay attention to ONE thing at a time.

But yesterday, I slid a CD into the player that was created by my daughter when she was away at college. She titled it “Mommy Mix,” and it’s made up of old and current songs.

Song #6…That I Would be Good by Alanis Morissette touched me so deeply that I allowed myself a good cry on the freeway.

The song seems to speak to all women about being “good” in spite of the curves that life can throw our way and the expectations to be perfect in a not so perfect world.

Do you know this song?

The lyrics are amazing, but the way it’s sung gives it the impact. iTunes?

That I would be good . . . even if I did nothing.

That I would be good . . . even if I got the thumbs down.

That I would be good . . . if I got and stayed sick.

That I would be good . . . even if I gained ten pounds.

That I would be fine . . . even if I went bankrupt.

That I would be good . . . if I lost my hair and my youth.

That I would be great . . . if I was no longer queen.

That I would be grand . . . if I was not all knowing.

That I would be loved . . . even when I numb myself.

That I would be good . . . even when I am overwhelmed.

That I would be loved . . . even when I was fuming.

That I would be good . . . even when if I was clingy.

That I would be good . . . even if I lost sanity.

That I would be good . . . whether with or without you.

This song speaks to me. It speaks to all of us.

Let’s love ourselves…even if.

Blog Challenge!

(Cassie)

I do love to write the Cassie Chronicles blog. But you wouldn’t know it by the number of times I post!

I totally enjoy sharing the silly and serious, newsworthy and nutty things that happen in everyday life. I just need to do it more frequently.

I’m going to issue a challenge to my sister bloggers today so that we can pump some vibrancy into WisdomWoman.com.

Let’s have a Blog-a-thon!

Beginning today, I’m going to blog at least 3 times per week and I hope I can convince my every-so-busy partners to do the same.

No pressure. Just an intention. Will you accept the challenge?

BTW, this post counts as one of my 3 times. :-)

Crunchy Jeans?

(Cassie)

What are crunchy jeans?

The kind that are air or line dried. I don’t like to shrink my jeans (or my t-shirts), so I always hang them on the stair railing to dry. Do you do this too?

The only problem is that they are stiff and crunchy when you go to wear them.

crunchy jeans

Here’s a tip. Toss them in the dryer for a few minutes on high heat and they regain their softness. Only takes about 2-3 minutes. Not enough to shrink them…just enough to make them pliable and comfy.

No more crunchy jeans.

MS (multiple sclerosis) – NEW HOPE on the HORIZON!

(Cassie)

How many of you know someone who has been diagnosed with MS?

This mysterious disease of the central nervous system afflicts some 250,000-350,000 in the United States alone.

The purpose of my post today is to share my excitement about the work of Dr. Paulo Zamboni, MD, a vascular surgeon from Italy who has turned the MS world upside down with his recent research and proposed procedure to help MS patients.

Dr. Zamboni’s passion to explore MS came after his wife’s diagnosis at age 37 and the swift progression of the disease.

CCSVI (Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency) is the focus of Dr. Zamboni’s work and his theory and treatment may play a key role in eliminating the potential damage done by each exacerbation an MS victim suffers. The basic tenet is that improper blood drainage from the brain and spinal cord may actually be the cause of the autoimmune reaction that leads to nervous system attacks.

I won’t pretend to be the expert. Instead, I’d like to share the link below so that you can read this very promising information for yourself.

Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that the upcoming grants, studies and trials will prove to be the answer that we in the MS community have been waiting for.

Hope is a wonderful thing! I for one will be standing in line for the procedure that will help me live a long and productive life.

The Cycle of Recycle~!

(Cassie)

I just love the recycle icon. It’s so simple, yet succinctly tells the mysterious story of reincarnation (of garbage, that is!).

recycle_iconI’m tickled by the fact that what was once a window in someone’s home or business, winds up being given to me as a gift, and now hangs in my window for the inside and outside world to enjoy.

Thanks to Aurora Glass and my cousin Susan, who works for this non-profit in Oregon, I am now the proud owner of this beautiful glass labyrinth suncatcher.

My Glass Labyrinth

Susan recently attended the Wisdom Woman Weekend retreat in February and brought samples of the beautiful designs the Aurora Glass Foundry is producing from recycled glass. I had my eye on this labyrinth and told my retreat-mates that it was claimed. Much to my surprise, it was GONE at the end of the retreat and I was a bit disappointed.

Surprise again! It was given to me the next morning by my dear friend, Kathy, who had flown in for the retreat. She snatched it up before I could get to it, so that she could give me a parting gift before heading to the airport. Love you, Kath.

There’s more to know about Aurora Glass. Take a look at this cool packaging and the story on the back of the corrugated gift box.

There are many home decor and personal treasures available on the Aurora site.

Selection

Let’s keep the cylce going and choose unique gifts (that keep on giving) for ourselves and others from Aurora Glass AND help a worthy cause at the same time.

Today, I’m a firm believer: One woman’s trash, is truly another woman’s treasure!
