There’s something fun and traditional about braving the crowds at the mall to shop for those special someones on your gift list.
But, I’ve come to realize that it’s not a very efficient way to shop, especially if you have multiple gifts to buy all at the same time.
Case in point. There have been a slew of new babies that have come into the world recently, and I know FOUR of them up close and personal.
Shopping for baby gifts? I know I could go to their register, but I’m stuck on getting people gifts they don’t expect (but will certainly love!).
When I’m looking for a unique (and maybe personalized) gift, I have two favorite places that I love to shop online:

Talk about unique! http://www.redenvelope.com has the right gift for every occasion. Look at the baby blankets I just bought. I had each one embroidered with the baby’s name (no date, because I just wanted it more casual).
This one’s my favorite! I had it embroidered with Landon Michael’s name down the side. BTW…this is not Landon Michael – this is model baby on the R.E. website.

And aren’t these quilts darling? You can use them OR hang them on the wall to give the baby room a little extra something AND a tool for learning the alphabet.

I got the green one for baby Lucas and the pink for Isabella.

Last, but certainly not least, I got this one for Eva. It’s soooo soft and wonderful.
Blankets are a baby’s best friend, right? I figure I can’t go wrong with these.
Red Envelope has REALLY high quality products and if you want to pay extra (which I didn’t this time around), the gifts are packaged in beautiful red boxes with off-white satin bows. It’s a class act, but the boxes add an extra $9.99 onto the gift. After embroidery charges, I opted to pick out nice wrapping paper and do it myself.
On to http://www.uncommongoods.com. Their search function works great for drilling down to the perfect gift for the perfect price.
My search example: I need a gift for the “gift exchange game” on X-mas Eve that is approximately $30 and unisex. I put in the criteria and this was one of the offerings:
These are reclaimed slate coasters from an elementary school in Illinois. Comes with chalk and all. There’s also a cheese board that is larger and sectioned off. Great idea to be able to write the names of the cheeses right on the platter! These come with cork backs and I think they’d match most any decor.
This post shows just a sampling of the terrific finds at Red Envelope and Uncommon Goods. I thought I’d share them with you before BLACK FRIDAY – when you might want to dress up in your best “go to the mall” outfit, grab a cinnamon tea or gingerbread latte, AND SIT DOWN IN FRONT OF YOUR COMPUTER TO GET SOME SERIOUS SHOPPING DONE.
Happy Thanksgiving Wisdom Women! There’s so much to be thankful for.

I love doing holiday shopping on the computer. Thanks for the additional sites I can peruse now. I am behind this season, way behind, and I better get hopping!
No mall for me! They don’t have anything I want beyond the bath and kitchen stores. I shop mostly online. I’ll have to take a look at your two sites. Mostly I’m done. We got all the grandkids cheap mini video cameras, my kids get a little more expensive video camera and our son-in-law a new desktop computer my husband is making. Easy-peasy stuff to wrap and give. But there’s always the little extra we are looking for so let me go check these sites of yours out.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks for this, Cassie. My cousin had a wonderful double-sided mirror for her purse that was a gift from Red Envelope. Would much rather shop in solitude! Happy Holidays!
